Label Ameya began as an exploration during my Master's programme in Italy, where I fell in love with Mughal history through the lens of textiles. Through this journey, I rediscovered South Asian garments and began experimenting with their silhouettes, construction, and craft throughout my Master's.
I stayed true to this research, designing shalwar kameez within a Western, narrative-driven fashion school. Over those two years, Label Ameya naturally took shape through the body of work I created. Today, the label is a formal extension of what I identify with in fashion and what we believe in preserving: the crafts, silhouettes, and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent.
